What makes Happy Wheels stand apart from other ragdoll obstacle games is the roster: each character comes strapped to a completely different vehicle with its own physics quirks, from a segway that tips forward under hard braking to a wheelchair that handles nothing like a bicycle on the same slope. Courses are stacked with boosters that launch you into hazards you didn't see coming, swinging harpoons, platforms that give way the moment you trust them, and explosive traps placed exactly where momentum wants to carry you. Losing a limb doesn't necessarily end a run either — crawling wounded characters and mid-air ejects are legitimate ways to salvage a broken attempt and limp toward the finish line, which turns even a disastrous crash into a small tactical puzzle.
Use the arrow keys to accelerate, brake, and lean your character's weight forward or backward, since shifting your lean is often what keeps a top-heavy vehicle from tipping over on rough terrain. A dedicated eject key launches your rider free of the vehicle in an emergency, useful when a vehicle is doomed but the rider might still crawl to safety. Because every character controls differently, the muscle memory from one doesn't transfer cleanly to the next.
