Cut the Rope

Physics Puzzling With Clean Cause and Effect

Cut the Rope is a beloved physics puzzle built entirely around one satisfying action: slicing ropes to guide a piece of candy into the mouth of Om Nom, a small green creature with an endless appetite. Every level hangs the candy from a web of ropes, bubbles, air jets, and spinning gears, and your job is figuring out the exact order and timing of cuts needed to swing, bounce, or float the candy through three collectible stars before it lands safely in Om Nom's mouth. Later levels layer in portals, spiders, and electrified surfaces, but the core cause-and-effect puzzle always stays clear and readable.

Controls: Cut With a Click or Tap

Click or tap directly on a rope to slice through it with the mouse or your finger. Some levels add extra tools like tapping bubbles to pop them at the right moment or tapping air jets to activate a puff of wind — but every interaction is a simple, precisely timed click. The challenge lies entirely in sequencing your cuts correctly, not in complex controls.

  • Study the whole level layout before cutting anything — later ropes often depend on how earlier ones swing.
  • Cut ropes on the upswing of a pendulum motion to launch candy further toward distant stars.
  • Time bubble taps precisely, since popping one too early or late sends the candy off course.
  • Don't fixate only on feeding Om Nom — grabbing all three stars usually requires a specific cutting order.
  • Replay failed levels immediately while the rope layout is still fresh in your memory.
