A Path-Drawing Take on the 2048 Formula
Connect 2048 reimagines the classic number-merging puzzle as a path-drawing game. Instead of sliding entire rows of tiles, you drag a line through a chain of adjacent tiles that share the same value, merging the whole chain into a single higher-value tile at the end of your path. Longer chains produce bigger jumps in value, but the grid keeps filling with new low numbers, so every connection has to balance immediate score against the shrinking space you have left to work with.
Controls: Click, Drag, Release
Click or tap a tile to start a chain, then drag through neighboring tiles of the same number without lifting your finger or mouse button. Release to merge the entire connected chain into one tile equal to the combined value. Only tiles you can trace in a continuous unbroken path count, so planning your route before you commit to it is essential.
- Chain as many matching tiles as possible in one drag — longer connections produce far bigger merges than repeated short ones.
- Keep a clear corner or edge open at all times as a safety zone for new tiles to spawn into.
- Prioritize connecting low-value tiles early before the board gets crowded and paths get harder to trace.
- Watch the whole board, not just the tile you're starting from, to avoid missing a longer available chain.
- Don't rush drags near the edges — an accidental release breaks the chain and wastes the move.
